Be one of the first 50 to register and book a hotel room to be entered into our raffle for a chance to win a Sun beach cruiser!

Maybe similar to this bike!

Rides are open to all abilities and we'll have a fast group and a fun group with ride guides to make sure nobody gets dropped (in the Dead (Sven) River). Be prepared for the weather. We ride rain snow or shine!

Gather up starting at 2 pm to get your bikes and gear ready. We roll out for the beach cruise at 4pm, so if you have a room, you can check-in before or after the ride. At 4:00 we’ll derby and then head down the beach to the dead river. At the dead river we’ll toast the great gnome spirit and then head back as the sunsets.

The 5 pm gravel dinner ride will be ridden at a medium pace and you’re gonna need a light and a wallet if you wanna buy drinks or a fish sammich at the wharf. The party starts at 7:30, so there is a two and a half hour window to ride and grab a bite. (If you do the gravel ride) - Once we reach the marina, You can stay with the group and eat at The Tropics, or break off and do your own thing. We have a list of recommendations below that are all within pedaling distance on Sheridan Road. The hotel also has a restaurant if you decide to lay back and chill.

Zion eats along the return route:

  • Baily’s Supper Club- Door County inspired menu. Nice sit down atmosphere
  • Hillary’s BBQ - This place is legendary for a reason, with locations in Zion and Waukegan.
  • Pizza House - Serving up the best pizza in the area since 1974
  • Zogos Sports Bar and Grill - Quality American Classics meets onsite gambling
  • El Lago - Classic Mexican that also serves breakfast. Mmmmmmmmmm breakfast
  • Los 3 Hermanos - Great tacos located next to Zion Cyclery
  • CJ’s Doughnuts - Great doughnuts. It’s what’s for dinner.
  • And of course there’s all your standard McWendyKing fast food stuff.

The rest of the night is a big party with snacks and a cash bar. Music by DJ Nice - Dancing - and guaranteed silliness till midnight

Midnight - Howl at the Moon out on the beach

Sunday Morning

Grab a free cup of Joe in the lobby from our sponsor, local coffee artisan Garage Coffee.

At around 9am get derbied by a little red-headed granny. Winner gets a prize!

Check out at 11am and roll your sweet petunias to the backlot at Zion Cyclery, where they’ll host an authentic Willinois Tailgate party/ Brunch.

About 12:30pm we'll roll out for a bit more challenging ride to the Beulah Park singletrack, or an encore mission back to the beach, if the trails are too wet.

3pm Shop closes up. Thanks for coming!

Bikes - Beach - Beer - Ghosts - Cocktail Party - FUN!

We've blocked out a room rate of only $115 a night. The best lake view rooms will go fast, so make your reservations now! We think that you'll be impressed with how nice the Illinois Beach resort property is with gorgeous lake views and an elegant ballroom. There's a huge indoor pool and sweet beach riding right outside your door!

How can I sign Up? Register for FREE here for the event.

Everyone that registers is invited to the Saturday rides and our elegant Cocktail Party with music in the Grand Ballroom with complimentary hors d’ oeuvres. You’ll have to buy your own drinks (cuz we’d go broke trying to satisfy your thirsts) but the hotel is going to have a full bar and we’re going to work with their beverage folks to make sure we have delicious craft beer on tap for the evening!

Hotel Reservations (highly recommended) can be made at (847) 625-7300 Mention – Zion Cyclery to receive the special room rate. Locals or folks with a designated (sober) driver don’t necessarily have to stay at the hotel to attend the event. Everyone that registers and chooses to stay at the Hotel will receive a goody bag full of groovy stuff from our event sponsors.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun at the Zion Cyclery Group Ride on Sunday!
